Changing You Attitude Towards Dieting Will Lead to Successful Weight Loss

Weight loss is not a quick fix to any problem and does not happen overnight. Most peple look at losing weight as something they dread, something that is going to suck. If you have a negative attitude towards something before you even start, chances are you will never start or if you do, you will not stick with it and fail. That is a fact and that is why 90% of Americans who go on a diet end up failing.

By changing your attitude towards dieting you will increase your chances to success. The simple fact is if your unhappy with the way your body looks now, chances are it is going to take time to get to your goal weight. The amount of time it takes will vary, but you need to be positive about making the neccassary changes in your life to meet your health and fitness goals.

Here are 3 secrets to help you change your perspective:

1. Instead of thinking I’m on a diet, think about making permanent life changes. Face it, what you have done in your life has not worked up until now, or you would not have to lose any weight…correct? So, now you have to make lifestyle changes to your eating habits and preferences in order to succeed at your weight loss.

2. Don’t restrict yourself from eating food. Most people on a diet think they can only eat this and only eat that. They tend to try to eat everything healthy and completely cut out all junk. They soon learn that after a week or two you will be craving junk foods. Well, it is okay to eat something not so good. You just have to limit the amount of junk, only do it once a week, and make up for the extra calories either by cutting out something else, or the easiest way is to exercise.

3. Increase your water intake. You probably do not drink enough water right now. Water will help keep the body hydrated which helps you to feel and function better. Also, water can help supress your appetite. When you feel like snacking on something or you are afraid of eating too much, drink a glass or two of water and wait 10 minutes before eating. You will find you don’t want that snack anymore or can’t eat as much.

Try to implement one of these rules each week. Remember, baby step to a better you. You diet did not get out of control in 1 day and it will take more then 1 day to control your diet.
